Walking towards the future

I went to the surgeon the other day.  He told me I could stop using the leg brace.  I'm hobbling around a bit, because so many of those muscles haven't been used in months, and my knee is still a bit wonky.  I'm walking unassisted, though!

We had a good Thanksgiving. Here's a picture of flowers I picked from various places in our yard for the centerpiece.  Life is beautiful right now.

Yes, I realize the linen tablecloth is wrinkled, but we're all just going to have to get over that.

Roses, dwarf poinciana, a type of impatiens

  1. So glad to know that you don't need the leg brace anymore. Yay!!! Lovely flowers for your Thanksgiving table. Ah, life is indeed beautiful.

  2. If you've watched The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, you may remember her comedy routine t//hat includes a bit about linen pants and how they wrinkle while you are ironing them. So true! I believe you just finished ironing that tablecloth. Glad to hear you are continuing to heal and up to hobbling around the garden.

  3. Good news you are now walking again without the brace. I like the bouquet, and I barely remember what ironing is (ha ha). What's a few wrinkles among friends?

  4. The flowers are absolutely gorgeous. And the slightly wrinkled tablecloth adds character and texture to the picture.

    1. I like that, character and texture. Of course.

  5. What a joy to be able walk unassisted. Yaaaayyyy!

That is an extraordinarily beautiful centerpiece. Color like that is life itself.

  6. Good news about abandoning the leg brace.

There's a coincidence. We have some identical Botanic Garden plates! The flowers are lovely.

Surely linen is meant to be wrinkled??

    1. Yes, linen is meant to be wrinkled. I'm almost sure of it. Big smile.

  7. Well hurrah for walking all by yourself again. What a journey you had.

It's a thing here in the higher design spheres, crinkly linen. Purposefully not ironed. You are quite with it.

  8. As Sabine says, wrinkled linen is IN, my dear. Embrace your inner sophistication! Lovely flowers, by the way. We have none and won't until spring arrives again. If you need colored leaves, though, I have zillions. There are more trees in my yard than people in the county and all those trees have leaves! They are hanging on, too, being oaks. Oaks keep their leaves so they can dump them on my porch all winter long. I am happy to hear your brace is off. Exercise that knee now. Love! me

  9. That's exactly how linen cloths look! Congratulations on your recovery; may the rest be as speedy.

    1. Thanks, Joanne. We'll see how things go with the speed. I'm impatient. Which, of course, is what got me into this mess in the first place. I'm trying hard to slow down, though. But I don't need to explain to YOU how hard that is.

  10. I had all sorts of clever things to say about wrinkled tablecloths; one by one they were all knocked off by your earlybird commenters. I am at my wit's end. Lead weights suspended from eight equidistant points round the periphery? The celebratory tablecloth glued to the tabletop and covered by a bed blanket for the rest of the year other than Thanksgiving? The pattern of the tablecloth painted on the wood of the table? A transparency of the tablecloth projected on to the table by a Magic Lantern hanging from the ceiling? Hey, my wit's longer than I thought. Depression, that flying predator, has been shoo-ed away.

  11. Good news indeed. Hobble away until you get it all back and then go dancing somewhere with great oldies.

  12. Those flowers are gorgeous and I didn't even notice the tablecloth until you mentioned it:)

Glad you're making progress with your knee. Bones heal quite quickly but all the soft tissue takes much longer. Time does heal.
