Dragging it out

As you know, we recently visited our Kentucky family to meet our great grandchild. What you don't know is they took us to a Star Wars themed drag brunch. OMG, was THAT fun.

It's a new world, a better world when your daughter, granddaughter, and future granddaughter-in-law take Grandpa and Grandma to a drag brunch. I had to laugh when R texted me and asked if we'd like to go. My response? "Are ya kiddin'? YES!" For some reason, she wasn't surprised.

As each one sashayed past our table, we whooped it up and handed them tips.
I was overcome with grandmotherly love for all the performers. Since I was sitting at the end of the table I was able to I tell each one either "You are my favorite" or "You look beautiful!"  Okay, make me say it, I threw a few kisses, too.

  1. A "Star Wars themed drag brunch..." in Kentucky! Now that is something I would have never guessed would be happening there. It looks like a great time. Does Mitch McConnell know about this? LOL!

    1. There are hip places all around this great country. You would be surprised.

    2. And I'm using "hip" in the late 1960's vernacular. You know what I mean.

  3. Now there's daring for you. At a very young age (The war may still have been going on - that's WW2 not the Boer War or the Crimean) I was taken to an indoor circus in Blackpool and the clowns leaped out of the ring and ran amok among the seated spectators. Since then I've had an aversion to events where the boundaries are blurred between those doing it and those watching. The clowns were so terrifying close-up and so insistent that we joined in I may even have pee-ed myself.

When in later life I've found myself at some entertainment where spectator participation seemed likely I've called down a rarely used talent I have of becoming much, much smaller and finally invisible. Quite different from my bombastic normal self.

I rate what you did on a par with what firefighters are presently doing in Australia. And yet at press conferences I was always the first to jump up and ask the nastiest and most invasive question. Go figure.

  4. That looks like it would have been a lot of fun. I am always a little jealous of drag queens, they always look more beautiful than I've ever looked. Sigh.

    1. It made me so happy to be there, with the family members I was there with. I have been trying to figure out why. There are so many answers that I think I just have to surrender to the chaos of joy. Truly, a good time was had by all.

  6. Omgosh. What a hoot! I love the drag queens, oddly enough I come across quite a few at Joann Fabrics. Seriously. - I just found your blog thru another blog and another blog... And now you're in my reading list. I too am a baby boomer (1963) with grown kids and grands. No g. grands yet but I'm looking forward to that. :) - PS - You had me at "drag brunch."

  7. I think my favourite is the first one - he of the white tunic and boots and blue hair and nails. Very stylish. But the second one - what on earth was he wearing? Anyway, looks like it was a fun brunch!
