Down, but not out.

I'm having a hard time writing blog posts. It's more inability than reluctance.

I like to write first thing in the morning. However, I also try to exercise (biking, walking) in the morning as well. In the heat of the summer it is imperative to get out there very early, so my early morning creative routine is kind of shot until the Florida heat and humidity subsides.

I will admit to being "a little" shell shocked of late. It's hard for me to focus. I should relax, ignore the political noise and re-center my self in this beautiful, yes beautiful, world.

Still, that hateful Trump and his evil cohorts try to distract us from beauty and goodness every damn day.  The unrealized poet in me is convinced he is the Devil, the anti-Christ. I am gobsmacked that people who think they are good Christians follow someone like him. In my fevered dreams they follow him straight to Hell.

My Tennessee Grandmother was my own personal Pentecostal saint. She was known to talk in tongues when the spirit moved her. My Grandma was the personification of goodness, and she worked hard at understanding the difference between good and evil. She would never have voted for Trump. Like Kamala Harris, she knew a predator when she saw one.

Grandma taught me to say "Get behind me, Satan" when I was overwhelmed with worry or distraction. I haven't said that phrase in a long, long time. But I'm saying it today.

  1. If you need to wait a bit to write and concentrate on moving, do so. Be kind to yourself. You aren't holding the world up on your own, you know. You have plenty of good people helping.

  2. I agree -- it's a complete mystery to me why people who call themselves Christian would vote for a man like Trump. Basically I think they've made a deal with the devil. They'll tolerate all his vagaries in exchange for a more conservative Supreme Court.

  3. It's a good phrase. Let's hope it works.

My father has been known to recite the classics, the way dictators would be overthrown regularly, republics established, followed by enlightenment and renewal and radical thinking, end to slavery and so on until the next dictator/tyrant raised their ugly head etc. etc.

  4. The news takes me over and I go over a ledge if I am not careful. Cut way back

Get behind me satan has a whole new meaning with trump in office.

  5. I don't know about the Devil or the Anti-Christ, but he's certainly a skilled manipulator of gullible voters who seriously think he's going to improve their lives. I just hope he doesn't manage to rig the election and give you another four years of the bull in the china shop.

And yes, it's hard to focus in the middle of such political turmoil.

  6. These are such challenging times. It's good to take a break, a deep breath, a quiet moment. You'll rise to the occasion. Just want you to know my older brother also calls T*u*mp the anti-Christ. A true nightmare.

  7. It's as if you were writing my story. If I don't have a post done by early afternoon, I cannot write it. Literally my grasp of my thoughts and the language, are gone. So my despair does not have the same cause, but despair nevertheless. As for Trump, Satan moved behind me when I watched the Democratic National Convention.

  8. I love your yard sign, I ordered one and i hope that it is big! Also ordered a black lives matter sign, which is liekly to get stolen so may put it up high , in a tree or on the deck.
Been feeling raw, I finally am taking the minimal dose of happy blue pill and I must say, the difference is astonishing. Yay, drugs!

  9. Feeling a lot of the same feelings. I tackle them by trying to stay positive and busy. Some days are hard.

Love the sign. They are starting to pop up around here. Good to see.
    Vote Blue.

  10. Might Satan do more damage from the rear? Or am I just being coarse? In keeping with the guidance we're getting from the White House.

  11. It's mind-numbing, isn't it? I can't wrap my head around the evangelical embrace of such a wicked person.

  12. Your Grandma was a Wise and Godly Woman clearly! The Political Noise is deafening and has infected/affected us all in Negative ways relentlessly. For Four long Years and it's escalating towards that Totalitarian Regime I fear has already gotten a Foothold and is fast becoming a Stronghold, so I can't just ignore it, as I'd prefer to. I don't want Silence to be Complicit in aiding this Devil, and Yes, he is one for sure, better look for 666 on that Man because I too have wondered if he isn't the Antichrist they speak of in Scripture? An alluring Devil can entrap many and before they realize how dangerous it is, it's too late, Cult Members rarely know/realize/acknowledge that they've joined a Cult. The Hate Movements know what they are getting into tho', they are drawn because the Movement and Leaders of them Hate who they Hate so it validates their Hatred and vile Agendas. People do like being part of a Group, it's the Herd Mentality so strong in too many... finding a Positive and Righteous Group to join isn't as appealing to some as the Violent and ones they consider as Strong. Many view Kindness as Weakness unfortunately and would exploit anyone they thought they could dominate... that dominance makes them feel Superior. I suspect he draws those with Character like that, it's in them, he just brought it out of most of them to reveal who they've always been at their Cores. Nature thank God goes on as she always has, bestowing her Magnificence and it is indeed Calming to our Spirits and Soothing to our Tortured Souls.
