Apprehension and then some

It isn't that I don't have anything to say.  I am simply paralyzed by apprehension* about the upcoming U.S. elections.

Here are this morning's Florida numbers for people who have already either early voted, or voted by mail.   Please note this just lists the information by political party.  It does not indicate who each person voted for.  And there are over 14 million registered voters in Florida.  Still, it gives me hope.

2,076, 621 Republican's have voted to date.

2,440,470 Democrats have voted to date.

*Apprehension
noun

1 he was filled with apprehension: anxiety, worry, unease, nervousness, nerves, misgivings, disquiet, concern, tension, trepidation, perturbation, consternation, angst, dread, alarm, fear, foreboding; informal butterflies, jitters, the willies, the creeps, the shivers, the heebie-jeebies. ANTONYMS confidence.

  1. The instant I hear a hopeful poll, I tamp down any glimmerings of hope. Problem with those voting numbers, IMHO, is that the Democrats will conscientiously vote early to be safe, and the mouth-breathing Trumpers will stomp in on election day, argue about wearing a mask, and vote at the last minute.

  2. These next ten days are going to be so brutal... and then will come all the chaos and challenges. Yes, definitely apprehension. That, and insomnia.

  3. I know what you mean. It is like I am holding my breath - afraid to hope but also afraid not to hope! Go Blue!

  4. That describes me and probably a good percentage of people in the country. We have been living like this for almost four years now, and November 3rd, 4th, 5th 6th will tell us if we are going to continue this dangerous chaos..

  5. My 1078-page, almost virginal thesaurus should have cost £22.50 ($29.25) but I bought it from Aardvark Books for £4 ($5.20). From this I concluded that Britain was making do with fewer words, just like your president. I am hoping Trump will learn to regret this when he discovers a sudden need to curse the darkness effectively.

You have added an unnecessary apostrophe to Republican. Don't give 'em anything.

    1. Hahaha. Thanks for catching this. They don't deserve an extra apostrophe for sure!

  7. I can't read more than the headlines now, and sure don't like Biden telling me Dumpty still can win. Only a week to go.

  8. A lot of us Brits are as apprehensive as you about the upcoming election. I guess it's a hopeful sign that there's already a record turnout and the final vote could be the highest since 1908. A lot of people who didn't bother to vote last time must have decided their vote is important.

  9. It is dreadful even from a distance.

  10. Wonder how many Republicans didn't vote for tRump? There's been a fair number of Republican politicians, lawyers, etc that have endorsed Biden.

Most important election I've participated in. Hope I picked a winner!

  11. I think we're all apprehensive at this point, things are not Normal. I can't even Believe the Election is allegedly a 'close' one... given his performance and way of Being. That makes me concerned for how many Americans are just like him or sanction that kind of behavior and level of blatant corruption, Racism, abhorrent behavior and so much more that isn't Positive at all. I have been watching some Specials on why swaths of the Country don't take the Pandemic Seriously, they have gone in to a lot of Rural American Towns that aren't faring well now that the Pandemic is everywhere. It is like there are Two Americas really and Two different Realities because what I saw was astonishing in it's indifference, ignorance about the dangers of a highly contagious deadly disease, and the Cult Devotion to a Politician... scary stuff, I would find living in that kind of a Community disturbing and unsettling, scary even! It was like one of those Horror Movies like 'Children Of The Corn' or 'Stepford Wives' to me how very different some Communities are than what I consider Normal and logical behavior... but I guess it's 'their Normal' and thus we're very divided and this Prez has seized on that and incited a lot of Negativity to where now it's Magnified and out of Control. This Election Day and beyond could be very Hairy, it's already beginning to give Signs it will be.
