Find your voice

I'm a strong woman and I'm proud of it.  I don't swallow my anger because I don't care if my anger is perceived as not being "ladylike."  I don't care if some people don't approve when I speak out. I don't aspire to join the bourgeoisie.  I don't care if traditional men or women don't find me attractive.  I don't find them attractive either.

I care about truth.  I care about justice.  I care about respect.  In fact, I demand respect.  You can disagree with me, but never roll your eyes when I speak.

Find your voice.  Make it heard.

In the words of the great Maggie Kuhn:

  1. AMEN!!
I had a class in high school called Womens Lib. We talked a lot about this back in ole 1974. I wish young women and girls had classes like this now.

  2. I hear you loud and clear, my friend. I add my voice to the sum of voices speaking the truth.

  6. I am woman, hear me roar
In numbers too big to ignore
And I know too much to go back and pretend
Cause I’ve heard it all before
And I’ve been down there on the floor
No one’s ever gonna keep me down again.

    Speak your truth, Colette

  7. It's interesting to think about the person who posted that quote.

  8. Thanks for the quote, Colette. We could use a lot of truth speaking these days!

  9. Love it Colette! I am glad that there are strong women in this country. Where would we all be if there had not been. No freedom, too many kids, no choice, no voice, no credit, no bank account, no vote. "Traditional" women have no idea what their sisters had to give up to get them to this place they are in now. I'm sad for them. They put their heads in the sand but they enjoy the freedoms that others paid for. Blind to the facts, sticking to their magical thinking.

    Say it loud! Louder!

  10. Amen to that. Jenny invariably says exactly what she thinks and feels, and our relationship is the richer for it. I'd hate to have a partner who felt she had to pussyfoot around me the whole time.

  12. I'm with you on ALL of it Colette! Mutual Respect is in short supply nowadays unfortunately, people intentionally are offensive, rude and disrespectful... makes me wonder how they were all Raised?
