Our cat is a goofball

That new cat we have, Murray, is a total goofball. Perhaps even a knucklehead. We are really enjoying him. Except in the middle of the night when he sneaks up the middle of the bed to sleep right next to our faces, and then scratches my toes and feet in revenge for moving him down to the foot of the bed. Actually, I think he assumes I'm playing with him when I move my feet.

Can cats be trained?

  1. He's a cutie and lucky to have found a new home with you. Can cats be trained? Not that I know of... but maybe someone has had luck with that.

    1. There is just something about those big orange cats. We've had quite a few of them as well.

  3. My cat, Oboe, trained me. She was mostly patient but would let me know when I wasn't learning what she wanted me to learn.

We did compromise on sleeping arrangements because I am a light sleeper. She liked to meow just as I fell asleep. we agreed that I would close my bedroom door when I went to bed. She had her own comfortable cat bed that she loved. She would sleep through the night and then act as an alarm to wake me up at about the same time each morning. She would meow and reach under the door with a paw.

Looking forward to more photos and stories about Murray. I'm fond of him and his upside-down ways!

    Is Murray a talkative cat?

    1. Oboe sounds like a good sport. I may have to do the same with Murray if he doesn't adjust to sleeping with us. He's not particularly talkative, but he makes himself heard nonetheless.

  4. Who knows? I think cats pretty much do as they please.

  5. If you move him often enough, and don't tolerate the foot business, he'll be trained. Or not.

  6. Scratching your toes and feet? That's a bit mean. Yes, you'll have to train him to be more like Oboe. If he doesn't train you first....

    1. We may have to put him out of our room at night, like am did with Oboe. I hate to, but I'd really like to get a good night's sleep.

  7. We've been trying for 5 years to keep our cats off the kitchen table. So of course it's their favorite place.

    Cats. Gotta love 'em

    1. There is something about their obliviousness that appeals to me.

  8. I think one of the best things about cats is that they resist training.
