I am a sucker for the underdog. Here is my litany for this morning:
I believe in magic
I believe in grace
I believe in mathematics and the laws of probability
I believe in hard work and determination
I believe that curses can be overcome
I believe that hope abounds
I believe I will never call them "The Lovable Losers" again
Yahoooooo!
I wish my Mom was still alive and could have watched that game last night. The Cubs used to make her so mad, but she never gave up on them.
It was such an epic game.
ReplyDeleteSo sleepy. So worth it. !!!
Woot.
Yes!
DeleteMy first World Series ever and I, of course, had to root for the underdog especially after hearing the Harry Caray story. What fun. I remain a NON sports fan but I can appreciate the drama and love the idea of any thing that can bring a large group of men to happy tears.
ReplyDeleteI'm not actually a sports fan, ha! But the rest of my large family are huge Cubs fans and it infected me this year.
DeleteA great game. My heart broke for the Indians, who actually were the underdogs. The Cubs had a great team, and so did the Indians, until they lost too much of it to injuries. Unlike the Cavaliers, they didn't have the last sinew to push on through.
ReplyDeleteNow the Cubs have a new reputation to uphold.
My heart breaks for Cleveland and the fans who are not celebrating this morning. Truly. Two amazing teams and a wonderful, well fought game. Thanks for being such a good sport. As always your rational kindness blows me away.
DeleteI'm not even a baseball fan, but the Internet was so excited last night that I tuned it for that last inning. It was greatness -- one of those cinematic feel-good stories for the ages!
ReplyDeleteI grew up about 80 miles east of Chicago, so the Cubs are the family baseball passion. I am the only one in the family who is not particularly interested in sports. However, like you say so well above, it was greatness.
DeleteI too Champion the Underdog, I am always elated when they finally have the Victory! I don't even like Baseball but I was Happy for the Cubs... and lets face it, if Fans have remained Loyal for a Century of losses, they Deserve to Celebrate, that's a ride or die kinda Relationship that Team has with their Fans and that is Priceless, even better than Winning IMO. Blessings from the Arizona Desert... Dawn... The Bohemian
ReplyDeleteYeah, baseball fans are always an interesting and special bunch. Those Cubbies fans are loyal beyond compare, though. The fans are writing names of loved ones, who were super Cubs fans who died before this big win, on the brick wall of Wrigley Field. My niece just texted me that she wrote her grandmother's (my Mom's) name on the bricks. So moving to me to have her remembered and included. I'm sure you know what I mean.
DeleteAwwww... that brought tears to my eyes! I'm sure all of the Loyal Fans on the other side of Time and Eternity were Cheering them on as well and there is a kick ass Party going on in the Cub-house of Heaven as well! Dawn... The Bohemian
