Today is the one year anniversary of the Orlando Pulse Nightclub shooting. Since I live nearby, there is a lot in the media to memorialize all the people who were killed or hurt in that terrible event. This is my favorite memorial, a photo of Angel Colon, who was shot but survived that day. I love it when people refuse to hate.
It was one of too many horrible and senseless attacks on innocent people. I'm not sure I would be so forgiving.
ReplyDeleteI know, it would be a struggle for me, too. I am intrigued by the concept of forgiveness, and I admire people who are able to do it.
DeleteWhat an amazing picture, what an amazing person.
ReplyDeleteTruly. I guess his Momma named him Angel for good reason.
DeleteHate just begets more hate. God bless him for having such a big heart!
ReplyDeleteThat's the thing. It really does beget more hate. You are on to something there.
DeleteWhat a Beautiful Spirit this Young Man has! Forgiving is never easy and it is indeed a Gift to ourselves when we can move in that direction so as not to fester with Hate. Dawn... The Bohemian
ReplyDeleteThanks Dawn. Festering hate is a good description of what a lack of forgiveness can become.
DeleteThat is an incredibly beautiful photo. How he reached a place of forgiveness would be a wonderful lesson to know.
ReplyDeleteI would love to hear him talk about what forgiveness means to him.
DeleteLovely pic. Lovely sentiment. I have much admiration for his values and strength. I'm not sure
ReplyDeleteI could be that forgiving and I hope I never have to find out.
I agree.
DeleteEasier said than done. Bravo to his sphere of influence that went in to shaping his core.
ReplyDeleteGreat photo.
Yes, a very special person.
DeleteI find it difficult to forgive people, myself most of all. Thinking I need to work on that.
ReplyDeleteForgiveness is often misunderstood. I'm thinking it might be the ultimate "f you" because you move on, leaving the sin with the sinner.
