We did a last minute, quick trip to St. Petersburg, FL on the Gulf Coast today to take Tom's guitar to a trusted guitar store for repairs.  Photos:

I think these are slides for a guitar

Wish I had the nerve to go inside this bar alongside the road

This bad boy jumped up on our table, stole Tom's crackers, and flew away

  1. What is that bird on the rail near the beginning?

    1. I believe it is a heron with it's head tucked in.

  2. You have the nerve (to enter the shack pub), you probably lack the appropriate clothing and - possibly - the right language. Because I'm terribly old I'd call the clothing a "boiler suit"; a one-piece shirt/trousers with more pockets than you could shake a stick at. Bedaubed with many colours, some suggestively horrible and almost certainly infectious.

But can you speak Russian? There are two characters in the sign that look like very feeble gallows; they are capitals of the fourth letter of the Russian alphabet. Their approximate English equivalent is the g in go. Should you overcome these two hurdles expect a warm welcome inside. Look how friendly Putin is to whatsisname, your president.

    2. And now that we've used the word, my post hits from behind the Iron Curtain will increase dramatically. Ha.

    1. It was a fun day, but a quick trip. I'm no longer a comfortable traveler on busy highways.

  4. All those boats! Why not stop at the little roadside bar? Go in and order a soft drink if nothing else. Be brave.

    1. Well, you have me thinking. It's kind of like a double dog dare to ask me to be brave. Ha!

  6. Cool stuff! Do you watch the show "American Pickers?" These things would be the things they buy. BTW, found your blog via Robin, and, like you, I'm just trying to figure this thing out. Again.

  7. I love little trips like that.

Have you seen "The World's Fastest Indian?" True story about a New Zealander who takes his Indian motorcycle to set a speed record on the Salt Flats in Utah. With Anthony Hopkins. Really good movie.
