On November 8, 2020, I ordered an advent calendar for my grandson. I figured I had plenty of time to receive it by December 1st. I was a bit concerned when it wasn't shipped until November 22; however, I still figured it would arrive in time.
It arrived yesterday, February 17, 2021.
Silly, silly optimist.
ReplyDeleteha!
DeleteMy word. Well, businesses and the post office has been affected by covid just like everyone else so maybe we should cut them some slack. Glad you got it.
ReplyDeleteMe, too.
DeleteIt's an interesting thing to consider a calendar arriving late. Glad it finally got there.
ReplyDeleteYes, I got a big kick out of receiving it.
DeletePerhaps they thought it was a Lenten calendar?
ReplyDeleteI have heard so many such stories about our postal service under DeJoy. Hopefully he is on Biden's list of 'needs to go'.
Yes!
DeleteWow! Wonder where it has been!?! Well, can you use it for next year? Hope so!
ReplyDeleteIt has been in Indiana, Altanta, Utah. I've been tracking it.
DeleteI received a Xmas card on Feb 15th. I understand the issue. :-) I hope they put the proper people and processes in placwe after you know who screwed it up!
ReplyDeleteOh wow.
DeleteGood LORD! That's insane. I mailed a postcard to someone in November and as far as I know it has yet to arrive.
ReplyDeletePlease let us know when it arrives.
DeleteHow 'Advent'agious.
ReplyDeleteha!
DeleteThat's baffling!
ReplyDeleteIt is. I was tracking it all these months, watching it bounce around from city to city all around the U.S.
DeletePunctuality is totally overrated.
ReplyDeleteApparently. At least I've now started shopping already for next year.
DeleteThat's longer than the longest wait I've had. You hold the record.
ReplyDeleteI win!
DeleteWas that the US postal service or some other delivery firm? The Royal Mail here in the UK is very efficient. They take two or three days to deliver and I've never had a hold-up as long as yours.
ReplyDeleteIt was the U.S. Postal Service. It used to be reasonably efficient. Trump appointed idiots to run it into the ground for some reason. The cynics amongst us think it might be to sow distrust of the postal service in order to decrease the number of people who vote by mail. The more people who vote, the more chance Democrats have of winning. Voter suppression is a serious hobby for Republicans in the U.S.
DeleteHere's an article that addresses the issues surrounding the U.S.P.S. https://www.forbes.com/sites/alisondurkee/2020/12/15/heres-why-louis-dejoy-will-likely-stay-in-charge-of-the-postal-service-under-biden-board-of-governors-nomination/?sh=1c7343255a60
DeleteInteresting that the board of governors has an in-built Republican majority for the foreseeable future. And talking about big changes to counteract financial losses is a familiar line, usually meaning cuts in services and cuts in staffing.
DeleteHere in the UK various Tory governments have deliberately run public services into the ground so they can say public ownership isn't working and privatisation is the only answer.
I got a Christmas card last week. Rather than late, I am considering it early.
ReplyDeleteI like your spirit!
DeleteNot for "some reason" but for a very specific one. Hoping they'd screw up the postal vote (thought to be mainly Democrat).
ReplyDeleteNever mind. I'm sure the advent calendar was sold by a very worthy charity. Not so? Goodness me! Ah well, it's the thought that counts.
Wow - that's got to be a record. Stupid Louis DeJoy.
