I've had the same glasses for a few years, and would really like to get new ones. In my mind, the perfect glasses for me were the "nun" or "granny" glasses I wore in the late 1960s. They were small, frameless, and lightweight.
Although manufacturers still make rimless wire glasses, the trend now is for them to have really big frames. They are too big for my face, that's for sure. Some people can pull off big glasses, but not me. I want the glasses my nuns wore in the 1950s and 1960s.
I'm spending a ridiculous amount of time learning how to measure glasses to help me in my search. So often, if I find a frame I like it comes in only one size that doesn't fit me.
I suppose I need to stop looking online. I've looked at most sites, and have found nothing. Or I find something of interest and the site doesn't have a "try-me-on" function. I need to start making a pilgrimage to local eyeglass dealers. Sigh. I dread interacting with sales people.
Here's a pic of me in 1970 when I moved to San Francisco and bleached my hair blonde so I could let it grow out like "Mountain Girl" did in that Ken Kesey novel. Note the perfect glasses.
