But they are keeping open the free, business areas (Disney Springs, City Walk). I'm trying to figure out how that makes sense.
Still, closing the parks is the right thing to do and I'm happy they are putting the public health before profits. I was wondering if that would happen.
Update: Sea World is closing, too.
Good.
ReplyDeleteIt is SO the right thing to do.
DeleteIt is a wise thing to do but I do feel badly for all of the workers who are now temporarily out of work! How do families cope without income for this time period? This will really hurt many, many businesses. I wonder how they will manage and glad I am retired!
ReplyDeleteSo important! The global economy will suffer, there is no getting around that. As for the Orlando theme parks "Disney World theme park employees, which make up the largest workforce in Orlando, will continue to get paid. Employees in other company divisions are asked to work remotely. Universal said it would pay its hourly employees for any of their scheduled work through the end of March." Not sure what will happen with Sea World, they have been struggling financially independent of this.
DeleteThat IS mindblowing, but certainly an indicator of how serious this whole situation really is.
ReplyDeleteYes, it is mindblowing. I am surprised, but happy they are taking this seriously.
DeleteWe are living in interesting times.
ReplyDeleteSometimes too interesting.
DeletePeople probably would not stay home without these "incentives".
ReplyDeleteThis is true.
DeleteLots of sporting fixtures are being cancelled in the UK. The sports fans are upset but as someone totally uninterested in sport, I'm indifferent!
ReplyDeleteSeems like everything is being cancelled now. I hope it works.
DeleteNah, this is just a frost on our public frolics. You'll know that Hell has frozen over - and that Satan is now drawing unemployment - when Trump Tower closes "for the good of the American people".
ReplyDeleteMake America Great Again, sloganizes Mr Orange. But not for all Americans. Could there be anything more crass than his refusal to allow those US citizens on the second cruise-ship (Not the Diamond Princess) back into the country on the grounds that it would spoil his CV infection figures. Which, to me, seem somewhat massaged anyway.
We don't have testing set up in most places. He has dragged his feet on this because he thinks this whole thing is a competition, and wants to keep "his" numbers low. What a moron.
