It's nice to feel cold, for a short while

It's 10:07 am in Central Florida today, and it is only 44 degrees F outside!  The high for today should be 60.  What a glorious time of year it is.  This is really the closest we get to a change of seasons, and I like to enjoy these cool days as much as I can. What a joy it is to put a quilt on the bed at night, to wear cozy socks, to throw on a comfortable sweater.

My husband, on the other hand, would be happy if it was always warm and sunny.

I am not writing this to brag, or to irritate those of you who have feet of snow and sub-zero weather to contend with. I remember how hard winter (especially a long, frozen January) used to be when we lived up north. In fact, I often miss the snow and cold during these winter months. I enjoy seeing pictures of the snow.  So beautiful!

I'm just writing about my day, my life, my thoughts. It's my blog, I get to say whatever I want. I like that, too.

Cheers!

  1. It is your blog so you can do as you please. Reminds me of that song, "It's my party and I'll cry if I want to".

It's warmed up here and is above 0C, so everything is melting which is weird and lovely, all at the same time.

  2. "It's your blog and you'll brag if you want, brag if you want to...
You would brag too if it happened to you."
Do you remember the song "It's My Party" by Lesley Gore from way back in 1963? Your post reminded me of it. I love it!
Enjoy your cool temps. We're enjoying our crazy warm temps here. It got up to 73 yesterday! We loved it.

    1. That's so funny, that's the same thing Pixie said to me above. I did love that song, AND Lesley Gore.

  3. Brrrr! That's Oregon weather. I'm glad that you like the temp where you live. That helps when the going gets tough.

    1. It's easy to like it because it only last for a couple of weeks. Ha.

    2. Don't rub it in! I'm making the best of a chilly situation. Well, truth be told, I am not making the best of it today but I will tomorrow.

  4. I will be flying to Tampa tomorrow. 60 will feel like a heat wave to me : ) Mostly I am looking forward to seeing green instead of white.

  5. For a short while, ok, make that a very short while.

Seasons are great, I missed them when we lived in a tropical paradise just below the equator, but putting on socks, meh.

    1. My socks keep getting turned around and smooshed up. I think I've lost the knack for wearing them.

  6. I don't handle Cold well at all and like that I don't have to shovel Sunshine, but Winter in the Desert is pretty nice and I can get much more done when it's not triple digits. Funny so many of our Friends and Relatives claimed they could never live here and yet, this was always their destination for a long Vacay... ha ha ha.

    1. There's a lot to be said for sunshine, but occasionally I like a cool, rainy day.

  7. My sleep is deep and peaceful in colder weather and for that reason I prefer the colder months of the year. I'm most comfortable with an indoor temperature of 60 degrees, which means that I don't have to turn on the heat at all during the year except when the temperature drops substantially below freezing which doesn't happen all that often. I live in a condominium with units above, below and on both sides and a southeast facing window to catch the morning sun when there is morning sun. Some heat comes up from the unit below me.

    What's the orange mesh story?

    1. I just liked the way it looked. Part of the "I can do what I want rant" ha. I wish it mean something deeper and more meaningful than that.

  9. We have snow today but I am lucky to have a son who loves to shovel!
It is good that you try to accept and enjoy whatever weather you get. Might as well!

    1. If I didn't try to accept, I'd be complaining all the time. Life is too short.

  10. I enjoy reading about the different climates of different spaces. And while I do prefer the warmer and more colorful months, there is something kind of invigorating about 7 inches of snow and 10 degrees. LOL
